A Dreamy Escape to Da Lat: What to Eat, Where to Stay, and Places to Visit in 2025

Earlier this year, I had the chance to take a memorable trip to Da Lat with a group of Vietnamese-American friends. It wasn’t just another vacation—it was a heartwarming experience filled with laughter, discovery, and peaceful moments in Vietnam’s most romantic city. In this article, I’ll walk you through everything from where we stayed, what we ate, to the stunning places we visited. Da Lat 2025 truly lives up to its nickname as the “City of Eternal Spring.”

A Brief History of Da Lat

Da Lat was founded in the late 19th century after French physician Alexandre Yersin discovered this highland region in 1893. Impressed by the cool climate and scenic beauty, he suggested to the French colonial government to build a resort town here for Europeans. Since then, Da Lat has grown into a charming city with a unique blend of French colonial architecture and lush pine forests. The name “Da Lat” is believed to come from the indigenous Lat people who originally lived in this area. Over a century later, the city still retains its poetic charm and romantic atmosphere.

Where We Stayed: The Beautiful Dong Nghi Villa

Our group chose to stay at Dong Nghi Villa, located near the city center but tucked away enough to enjoy the peaceful air of Da Lat. The villa featured multiple bedrooms, a large living room, a spacious kitchen, and even a garden with an outdoor BBQ area. It was perfect for our group of 10+ people. When the cost was split, it came down to only about $10–$15 per person per night—much cheaper than hotels and with the added bonus of privacy and space.

Tips for Renting Affordable Villas in Da Lat:

  • Book 2–4 weeks in advance, especially during peak season (November–March).
  • Look for deals on Agoda, Booking.com, or Airbnb.
  • Try contacting the villa owner directly for better rates.
  • The more people in your group, the cheaper the per-person cost—sometimes as low as $8.

Budgeting and Daily Expenses

Da Lat is surprisingly budget-friendly. A delicious local meal costs only about 30,000–80,000 VND ($1.20–$3.50). Renting a scooter for a day costs around 150,000 VND ($6). For a 3-day, 2-night trip with friends, including food, lodging, and activities, each of us spent roughly 2–3 million VND ($80–$120), which was a great value for the experience we had.

Final Thoughts: Why Da Lat Captured My Heart

As our group trip at Dong Nghi Villa came to an end, I found myself overwhelmed with gratitude and beautiful memories. From sipping hot coffee in the cool morning air, enjoying sunny afternoons, to the chill of the evening breeze through the pine forests—every moment felt magical. Our nights around the BBQ grill, sharing stories and laughter, reminded me that the best trips are about connection, not just destinations.

Thank you, Da Lat, for being so gentle, beautiful, and full of soul. I will definitely return—because this city is not only picturesque, but it holds memories I will treasure forever.
